Insomnia Reset was built by Angus Munro, a clinical psychologist in Sydney, Australia. The program is the distillation of fifteen years of clinical practice and five degrees (three in psychology, two in business) into something that can actually be used at 3am.
Most insomnia programs are sleep-hygiene checklists dressed up as treatment. The actual mechanism research has been very clear for a long time: chronic insomnia is a hyperarousal disorder. The treatment that works targets the arousal, not the sleep — and almost everything sold as "sleep advice" makes the arousal worse.
The clinical philosophy
Minimum necessary force to achieve an objective. The right technique for the right state — physiological techniques when arousal is high, emotional techniques in the middle, cognitive techniques only when the body is settled enough to think clearly.
You can't think your way out of a state your body is producing. You can't relax your way out of a story your mind is telling. Different gears for different states. The program teaches you which gear to use when.
What this program is not
It's not a sleep diary. It's not stimulus control rebranded. It's not sleep restriction either — which works for many people but feeds the hypervigilance for many others. It's not a substitute for clinical care if you have a sleep-related medical condition (sleep apnoea, restless legs, parasomnia).
It is a structured way to learn the mechanism, build the physiological foundation, untangle the story, and make the new pattern routine. That's the whole game.
